Community • Opportunity • Accountability

We are your neighbors, friends, and colleagues, all working for Democratic values, candidates, and policies throughout Columbia County.

The CCDC is committed to the advancement of progressive Democratic goals through efficient and effective government:  economic equality and meaningful job development; quality public education; affordable healthcare, childcare, and housing; respect and inclusion for all.

Who?
All volunteers, the CCDC is composed of the members of the party’s 18 Town committees and the City of Hudson’s Democratic committee, representing the 14,000+ registered Democrats in Columbia County.

What?
The CCDC works to recruit and elect Democratic candidates to village, town, county, state, and federal offices, and provides volunteers and financial support for those elections. The CCDC also seeks out individual Democrats to participate in local volunteer governance, including Zoning, Planning, and Historic Preservation Boards and Commissions.

Where and when?
We meet on the fourth Thursday of every month, usually at 7 p.m. at the Martin Glynn Village Hall, 3211 Church Street, Valatie. Meeting reminders, agendas, and any change of venue will always be posted here, on our Facebook page, and sent via email to our membership list. Join our mailing list by clicking here or using the form at the bottom of this page!

How?
If you are in Columbia County, and you want to get involved, you've found the right place. Email us, sign up for our mailing list, or come to a meeting. And please consider making a donation; our funds support Democratic candidates for office throughout the county.

Why?
We need you; the county needs you; the country needs you. Join us!

Why should you give to the CCDC?

The CCDC raises funds to support all candidates running for office in Columbia County who are endorsed by the Democratic Party. This means we support candidates for town board, supervisor, and other offices in your town, candidates for county offices like sheriff and coroner, and candidates running at the state and national level, too.

To end the one-party control that has characterized Columbia County politics for more than 50 years, we need financial resources not just for individual candidates, but for the party infrastructure to support them. While we all work as volunteers, running for office is expensive. A town campaign can cost between $2,000 and $10,000, while county-wide efforts can cost $50,000 or more. Money is spent on mailings, advertising, and events.

Your donation to the CCDC allows us to help find, launch, and support successful Democratic candidates at every level.

Thank You to All the Democratic Candidates!

Thanks are due to every single candidate in every Columbia County town who ran as a Democrat for local office. Your victories are inspiring, hard-won, and show great promise for the future of Democratic values and victories in Columbia County–THANK YOU!

This year, the Columbia County Democratic Committee also ran outstanding, highly experienced candidates for two critical county offices. We offer our thanks to former New York City medical examiner Dr. Andrea "Cricket" Coleman, who has been elected coroner. Peter Volkmann, current Chatham police chief and founder of the successful Chatham Cares 4 U program to address opioid abuse, ran a hard-fought campaign for county sheriff.

Thank you to all our Democratic candidates for your dedication to our community!

understand your local & county government

Local and county-level government has a big impact on all our lives--sometimes bigger than we realize. In Columbia County, the Board of Supervisors controls a large annual budget and hundreds of jobs. Who we elect as supervisor matters!
