2026 Election Dates
2026 Primaries: June 23
Registration deadline: If you are not already registered to vote, you must register as a Democrat to vote in the 2026 Democratic Primary by June 13 (you must be registered as a member of a political party to vote in that party’s primary in New York State).
The Change of Party Enrollment for 2026 Primary Election Deadline has passed
An application to change one’s party enrollment will not be effective for any primary election in 2026. Party enrollment does not affect voting in the general election. A change in party enrollment now will be effective for primary elections in 2027.
2026 Primary Election Early Voting: June 13th through June 21st
2026 General Election: November 3
Registration deadline: If you are not already registered to vote, you must register to vote by October 24 to vote in the 2026 General Election.

Early voting by mail:
Anyone can request a mail-in ballot. You may request a mail-in ballot online or your may do so in person at the Columbia County Board of Elections, 401 State Street, Hudson, NY 12534, 8AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday.
For further information about mail-in ballots, including deadlines, check the early mail ballot site at the NYS Board of Elections or call or email the Columbia County Board of Elections (518-828-3115) elections@columbiacountyny.gov.
Note: If you lose, spoil or did not receive your mail-in ballot by the time you wanted to vote, don’t panic! A voter who has been issued a mail or absentee ballot by the Board of Elections is permitted to vote by affidavit at Early Voting or on Election Day. Your vote will be counted after regular votes are counted but it will still be counted!
