The Home of the Democratic Party in Beautiful Columbia County, New York

Call to Action BOS

Call to action to attend the Board of Supervisors meeting on July 9 to protest the invalidation of the petition to put the creation of a County Executive on the ballot in November.

What has been done

After nearly 4,000 voters signed a petition to put the County Executive referendum on the ballot—the largest grassroots effort in county history—Chairman Matt Murell and the Republican-appointed Clerk launched a partisan campaign to block it. They’ve shut Democrats out of the process, accepted sloppy and legally baseless objections, and even tossed signatures from elected officials they personally know. Worse still, Chairman Murell quietly used YOUR TAX DOLLARS to hire an attorney with ties to the Republican Party—without notifying the Board or seeking approval—all in a desperate attempt to stop the popular County Executive referendum.

We won’t let them get away with it. If you believe voters—not politicians—should decide Columbia County’s future, now is the time to show up.

What you can do

Join the Columbia County Dems at the upcoming Board of Supervisors meeting on Wednesday, July 9. Arrive between 6:30 and 6:45 PM to be heard before the meeting begins at 7:00. We need to fill the room with voices demanding accountability, transparency, and respect for democracy. Be seen. Be heard. Be present.
